Who We Are
We are a Christian church.
We preach that Jesus Christ is the eternal Son of God who
became a human being through the virgin birth so that he could take our place
under God’s law and so that he could suffer and die for the sins of the whole
world.
We are a Biblical
church.
We believe that the Bible is the inspired Word of God.
The Bible has no errors or contradictions. We will not add to it, subtract from
it or change its meaning. The Bible is the only source and authority for
Christian doctrine.
We are an
Evangelical church.
As a congregation we are a body of believers who is
determined to bring the Good News of Jesus Christ (the Gospel) to all people.
We are a
Lutheran church.
Like Martin Luther we confess, hold to and defend the
central teaching of the Gospel — that we are saved by grace alone, through
faith alone in Jesus, and not by our own good works.
We are a
liturgical church.
The liturgy assures us that each time we gather for
worship we will follow a centuries-tested order of service that will include
confession & absolution, appointed Scripture lessons appropriate for the
season of the church year, the sermon, prayers, hymns and psalms. While the
order of service each week may vary and while the type of music used to carry
the Gospel may vary, the basic outline of the historic, Christian liturgy will
still be followed.
We are a
sacramental church.
We believe that in Baptism and in the Lord's Supper, God
comes to us with his free forgiveness in very tangible means.
We are a church
that cares about people.
As members of the Wisconsin Evangelical Lutheran Synod
(WELS), we offer friendship, support, counseling, direction and love not only
at the local level through our pastor and congregation but also on the national
(and even world level) as we work together with over 1,250 other congregations
who are in doctrinal agreement with us.
